We spent the labor day weekend at my parents house in Memphis. It was a full house - 3 couples, 2 dog-uhs, and 1 sick baby. I guess the slow onset of a yucky cold may have been responsible for last week's fussiness. At this point, I'm throwing up my hands as far as trying to figure out where it all comes from. MCM was sick all weekend, which caused her to be home bound. She still managed to have lots of fun toddling around Nana and Pop's house, crawling up the stairs and tormenting the dogs. It was good times.
Now we're home, and I've come down with her cold. I am SO wishing I could spend all day in bed finishing New Moon, but instead I took MCM shopping (she is rapidly growing out of all her clothes!), and I've been doing my best to get her to take a nap. The nap situation is precarious right now. No one tells you about things like the fact that going from 2 naps to 1 can be a long, confusing process. Sometimes it's obvious what MCM needs (yawning uncontrollably, laying on the floor as if she might actually go to sleep any old place), and other times she gives an oscar-worthy performance, pretending to be energetic and completely cool with no sleep all day. One thing I am finding frustrating about this nap transition is that she seems so tired in the morning. After about 2 hours awake, she seems ready to take a morning nap. She goes down easily, and stays asleep well. But, if she gets a morning nap, you might as week forget an afternoon nap - or she'll get sleepy at 4:00 PM - waaaay too close to bed time for my comfort. If I try to keep her awake until the afternoon nap (like I did today), she inevitably becomes over-tired, and that creates a level of fussiness that I just don't want to handle when I'm starving for lunch, and ready for my own little break.
I'm sure it will even out soon. Today I don't have the energy to handle things well. Like I said, I want to be in bed. It's a case of the Mondays, only it's Tuesday - thank goodness!

hey courtney,
the nap transition is so confusing. we have been on one nap for awhile now, however my child has decided that 1 one hour nap will suffice! i need so much more of a break than one stinkin' hour a day. what to do?????? why is it that some kids will sleep for 2 or 3 hours in the afternoon and mine doesn't sleep much at all? whoa is me :)
she is precious Courtney. i love all your pictures!
i hear ya, stacey. right there with you lately. if i let it happen in the morning, she'll sleep forever though! maybe i should just keep the morning nap and drop the afternoon? who says i have to do it like everyone else, right?
missy - thanks! congratulations on your engagement! i'm so happy for you!
Hey, I looked at the first picture and thought, "That house behind MCM sure looks familiar." Then I read down and realized where she was- I drive past that house 10 times a day!
This is a tough time for napping. With Tucker, I slowly scooted his morning nap later and later by about 15 minutes each day. He finally made it to where he could stay up happily until about 12:30. That way, he would eat lunch then go down for one nap a day. Good luck.
